Excellently written novel about a young German solider in Paris during the last days of the war. Fluent in French he passes as a young Frenchman in his free time while serving as an interrogator of prisoners for the Germans. He becomes obsessed with a young French woman. Can't say more without giving away the plot. Absorbing if at times very graphic. Brings an era to life and puts a complexity on a situation that is often seen as black and white.
