Kenny and I read a few of these Grimm tales at bedtime, and then realized that they were the stuff of nightmares, even for grownups.
This took me back to my childhood years in Germany. I got the distinct impression that childhood is not all sugar and spice when we used to visit the Medieval Torture Museum in Rothenberg and we saw the little jailcells and sawhorses kids would sit on with weights on their ankles for misdeeds. These tales include cannibalism and horrible punishment for heinous crimes- if you're taking a Christian perspective, and I think there's one to be had, these do not take sin lightly!
