This book was much more graphic than I was expecting, and though I'm generally not a big fan of explicit human suffering, the book was really hard to put down. It's really a page-turner, especially in the back half. The character development is well-paced and more in-depth than you get out of a Dan Brown, for example. I'm definitely going to read the next one.

If I have one criticism, it's that the book continues long after the climax in order to wind up all the loose ends. I found myself saying a few times at the end, "alright, you're clearly just wrapping things up...and yet it goes on and on and on." Still, excellent read.
