Outstanding spy thriller that exposes the Muslim/American conflict without demonizing either side. Despite the improbabilities of a story that has a Paki-American soldier parachuting into Pakistan to rescue his Jungian therapist mother who is being held hostage by a jihad, Gruber makes you believe; stranger things have likely happened in reality. As always in Gruber, including the Butch Karp series, there is a wonderful shimmer of mystical/spititual matter under the surface of things.
