"Have You Found Her" is Janice Erlbaum’s second memoir where she returns as a volunteer to the shelter that housed her briefly as a teenager. Janice became obsessed with being at the shelter. She showed up every Wednesday becoming known as the "bead lady” as she learned how reach out to the girls.

One of the rules of the shelter is “Don’t play favorites” which goes out the window when she meets the drug addicted Samantha. Janice ends up deeply caring for Sam in nothing more than a paternal form and wants to save her from the streets. Sam develops several illnesses and is hospitalized, sent to drug rehab, a half way house, and re-hospitalized in a mental institution sending Janice on a roller coaster ride of emotions being there for her every time. The one thing Janice never suspected was how sick Sam really was.

This was an incredibly compelling read that I could not put down.
