Describes Teddy Roosevelt's vainglorious trip through the Amazon. Ill-conceived and poorly planned, I don't think that the experience reflects very well on Roosevelt. I think it's fair to say he had no idea what he was getting into, and didn't bother to investigate the region and its demands before starting out. The book wasn't particularly well written, but it was interesting, particularly in its descriptions of the Cinta Larga and the Amazonian rain forest itself.
