This one is different, alright. It's a mix of evocative imagery and clunky writing. Midway through, the protagonist admits feeling turned on by a man who has a gun on her. This is later explained as being a result of the potent flowers she is near, but I still found that scene disturbing. Elsewhere in the novel, I learned a few things about exotic plants and Quintana Roo. I enjoyed the breezy pace, but not an author I'll read again.
