really liked it

Cute book. Very realistic.

A preteen is afaid of the water, but her mother puts her in swimming lessons anyway. She gets in the water, and her legs feel funny and don't work as they should. She sees them start fusing together, and freaks out. She invents some excuse so she doesn't have to get into the water for the next few days. Later, she decided to go into the ocean, and when the feeling comes again, she suddenly feels like she belongs in the water, and as her legs turn into a tail, she starts swimming all over and loves it. She meets a mermaid, and they become fast friends. The mermaid is not afraid of her changing back into a human out of the water.

She finds out she is half mermaid and half human. She and her mermaid friend find a sunken ship that her mother had a dream of.
