I am NOT liking this one bit. And I have to say I don't care for the "More than Words" anthologies. (They are based on real people and true stories and they put everyday heroes and put them into their fictional stories.) So far, the only link to Virgin River this has is that two citizens of virgin river are mentioned as belonging to a committee and they are from a "nearby" community. Sorry but that's not enough for me to consider it part of the series. As for this story, it's horrible. The real life hero this is written around is the founder of an organization that helps single mothers and/or abused women. The organization is mentioned about every other page so it gets old, quick, and I'm tired of reading about the former abused woman scared of her nice next-door neighbor. I'm sorry, if a cute single guy wants to help me out and mow my lawn, I am NOT going to complain. lol I will finish this as it's a novella, but honestly, it isn't worth the time it took to read it.

It finished better than it started. I'm glad the community stood up to help out the single mothers, but I'm not giving this a high rating because the author used this novella (and More Than Words anthologies tend to be guilty of this) to shovel her agenda down your throat. Robyn Carr is guilty of doing this throughout her Virgin River series when it comes to women's health issues. Her books also tend to have alot of abusive characters. Not something I care for in my escapism reading time. The author can write and does it well, but she's turning me off by always seeming to further her agenda's on subjects dear to her heart. Personaly, I wish she'd put all that into a non-fiction book instead of ruining her otherwise wonderful fiction by stuffing it in til they overflow, by which they turn off the readers. Careful, because you lose your readers that way.
