I couldn't put this book down because, as my husband astutely pointed out, it's just like a giant gossip magazine from the past. If you are looking for a critical analysis of the Ramones' impact on pop music, you won't find it here. You will find out exactly who hooked the Stooges on heroin and how Patti Smith acted before and after she got famous. I love oral histories and this one is nearly as good as the one about Edie Sedgewick. It also involves some of the same hipsters.
