This was a decent thriller/suspense novel. It's the first in a series about Liv Bergen, a miner turned sleuth. The case: A serial killer is attempting to imitate famous but gruesome works of art using real bodies. Liv gets involved when one of the victims turns out to be an employee of hers.. plus an old college friend of hers is an FBI agent on the case.

Pretty gruesome and I didn't know whodunit till the last quarter, but there were some things I didn't like.

A. The FBI agents were too stupid to live. Hello? You are an FBI agent.. the smartest of the smart.. and you can't detect you have tail following you all the way home? AND you leave your blinds and curtains or whatever open so everything going on inside is visible to those outside? AND even worse, you leave the front door unlocked? Word. I'm a civilian and I know better than that.. I expect more from FBI agents!

B. I get this novel is "laying the groundwork" for Liv's love interest, but she never even meets him in this book! Hm..

Not bad, but could be better.
