My younger sister had to read this for a summer assignment, and in the interest of helping her with the material, I read it as well. S.E. Hinton's novels are classics that stand the test of time; "Rumble Fish" is a prime example of Hinton's masterful storytelling that serves a purpose. This novel, like her others, gives young readers a great deal to thing about in a succinct number of pages that makes it accessible to many reading levels. "Rumble Fish" has many elements that allow for interpretation and Hinton's message to youth rings true here as it does in all of her novels.
