** spoiler alert ** Marianne and Thomas Effington. Thomas is left with the 3 remaining sisters and their aunt to escort them through the season and he hopes to marry them off. He has also decided that it's his time to marry and is hoping to find a maleable and docile wife. Marianne, and her other sisters have no intention of marrying as it is their first season. She has no intention of marrying ever as she is traumatized by what her mom went though with her gambling father who squandered the family fortune. She wants to gain independence which she does by detailing her "life experiences" via Cadwallender's publication. Her life experiences end up being a romance between herself and Thomas and the whole of London is intrigued by her updates. Eventually, she gets found out by Thomas and it ends beautifully. Very cute romance.
