This book was written by one of the most prolific writers of the times, James Patterson, in 2005. (Although it should be mentioned that he co-wrote it with Andrew Gross). Hardly a year passes without a few titles published by Mr. Patterson. Like those previously published, this one is a thriller – in category only.
The book switches from point of view to point of view. While this switch happens at chapter changes, it leaves the reader wondering whose point of view it is at times. At others, it leaves you hanging on the plotline you’re been following while you switch to another plotline. The different plots within plots seem to be totally random, but you know, since you’re reading about it that eventually they will all meet up somehow.
The premise is a good one – the storyline consistent with what one expects from a Patterson novel. The twists and turns are rather rough and leaves this reader wondering how much writing is James Patterson’s and how much is his co-writer’s, Andrew Gross.
While the ending was a surprise, the who-dun-it was easily figured out towards the beginning. This is disappointing as most Patterson novels keeps one guessing back and forth throughout the novel.
This is one Patterson novel that can be passed over. Patterson has written too much high quality work to consider this one of his must reads. Read it only to say you’ve read everything he’s written.
