Another good one by Tropper. I find his books so eminently readable. Always a sort of messed-up guy at the center, but with a likeabiity that makes him not a complete jerk. In this one, the protagonist has left his small town and wrote a scathing thinly-disguised "novel" exposing some town secrets but also embellishing some of the "characters" in a less than flattering way. He then has to return to town when his father has a stroke, and finds that virtually everyone in town hates him. The title is a play on the book of Job, and this guy does have enough problems to qualify as a modern day Job.
