it was amazing
bookshelves: shortfiction
Read in September, 1999

This was my Murakami primer, and I don't remember who I have to thank for reading him. The short stories read as hyper modern fairy tales with inexplicable things occurring to unsuspecting, ordinary citizens. Murakami could be the Japanese answer to Latin-America's magical realism father, Garcia-Marquez with the matter of fact surreal quality in the everyday life of the characters.
