This review just for Miss Congeniality
Although this one is part of "Magnus Pack" series (#4), but we back to 1980 era. So this story is considered as prequel (and sequel, just for the epilogue)
The story is about Irene Conridge and Niles Van Holtz (or Van, as his family call him). We first met them in
, and Irene was Miki's tutor. Irene-Van's relationship remind me of Miki-Conall's, while Irene more cold and smart than Miki.
When she 25 years old, Irene already become professor at university, but she lack of social ability. Lucky for her she have Jackie, a jackal shapeshifter as her friend and babysitter. Enter Van, that had stalked Irene for 7 years. He intrigued with her, yet he don't want to mate with human. But after Irene targeted with other pack (hyena and lion), Van marked her and make Irene as his mate. They think, after the marking, it was over, they'll avoid each other. They don't know that it's just the beginning of their future...
Irene and Van, is what I said "hot and cold", Irene is soooo cold, must be the coldest heroine I've ever read, but it just she not let emotion clouded her action and her super active brain. Well, Irene can't stop thinking and analyze anything. Good thing she finally met her match in Van. Van show her how to become like an ordinary people, sometimes just enjoy the life.
My favorite scenes is two . First when Van finally accept his role as Alpha of Van-Holtz pack, and Irene admit that she loves him and agree to become his mate forever. Then the marriage scene. O.M.G! Irene forgot her wedding day, and still do her job when an hour later, the wedding begin! LMAO!! Don't expect Irene and Van has the most romantic wedding. Nope, not at all.:P

Digging her hands in his hair, Irene pulled him up until they were face to face. “Wolves.” And she gave him that smile no one ever saw but him. “So damn demanding.”
“Geniuses,” he sighed back. “So damn hot.”
If you want to read paranormal story, esp with shifter and need a laugh, just read Shelly Laurenston's books ;)
