If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You

This is the first book I've read "written" by a celebrity. Normally I stay away from celeb-reality books. However, Kelly Cutrone's personality and no-BS, sarcastic attitude have always intrigued me so I decided to read it.
First of all, this book confirms why I don't like to read celeb-reality books - their poor literary style. To be fair, I wasn't expecting David Sedaris or anything of that caliber. But I was a little surprised at how bad the writing was, especially since Kelly had an author help write it. It read like the way Kelly talks on TV. God help any teenage girls that read her book and write their English papers in a similar manner. However, even though it took me a chapter to get used to the messy writing, I eventually got over it.
The redeeming quality of this book is Kelly's attitude. I don't know how much of her life story is true (some occasions sound a bit outrageous) but I admire her attitude towards life and the advice she offers to other females. I actually kept two quotes that I thought were encouraging and relevant.
Overall this book is a quick and interesting read if you have free time. Despite her antics on TV, Kelly is a very smart woman who knows how to market herself as her own brand. And since that's my personal goal at the moment, her book appeals to me. I recommend this book to anyone that shares a similar goal.
