The book "Wide Window" by Lemony Snicket is about the Baudelaire orphans going to their third guardian after the murder of their second one. They arrive at the front door of Josephine Aniwhistle who has a phobia of everything and she is grammar freak. She is afraid of the stove, the fridge, and even a window. Her library is full of grammar books. The irony is that she is afraid of everything and her house is right on the edge of a cliff. One day when they go into town to buy groceries they see a familiar man, who is Count Olaf in disguise. The Baudelaires know the difference, but Aunt Josephine thinks it's an old friend. Olaf is able to convince Josephine to sign the Baudelaires over to him, but the Baudelaires fake an illness to stop the meeting for the signing. When, the Baudelaires come back to the house Aunt Josephine is missing and there is only a note with a hidden message. The house is falling apart as Klaus decodes the message of where Aunt josephine is hiding. They find out that she is hiding in the cove and when the are coming back on the boat the attract the leeches of the lake because Josephine had a banana and did not wait an hour before getting in to the boat because leeches are draw to the smell of food. The Baudelaires survive, but Aunt Josephine doesn't and the Baudelaires end up being sent to there next guardian. I thought this book in series emphasized on decoding messages and I was amazed of how the message was hidden and this message coding is used often in this series. I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in puzzles.
