Hansen does a great job writing novels about real people and events (Hitler's Niece, for example). Along comes another one: Exiles has parallel stories: one about a group of nuns who die in a shipwreck; the other about Gerard Manley Hopkins's writing a long, complex poem about their story (and it's also about Hopkins's struggles with his own spiritual life and his talent).

I enjoyed it.
