Some eye candy - Valek http://irresistiblereads.blogspot.com...
Favourite Quote: "Everyone makes choices in life. Some bad, some Good. It's called living, and if you want to bow out, then go right ahead. But don't do it halfway. Don't linger in whiner's limbo."
Fantasy and me have had our ups and downs. I have only read a handful as it is one of the genres I struggle with. But I had heard good things about Poison Study from everyone and they were right, it is AMAZING.
I love the world Snyder created. I wouldn't want to swap places with Yelena with her life at risk every day in but I was completely absorbed in the world. So much adventure and danger it was hard to let go and walk away from this book when I had to. And Snyder's writing is addictive. It is such an unbelievably engaging and satisfying read.
You really get a warm feel for all the characters. What I love about them is they don't feel ordinary. They are that something special, characters you will never forgot not even the secondary. They are all mature, smart and strong. I admire Yelena's courage especially since everyday held danger for her. And Valek there is something very sexy about his dark and mysterious ways. Then you have Ari and Janco who keep you entertained.
While the story does focus on Yelena and Valek building each other's trust and respect their romance is very subtle but it does make your heart melt.
"But you’ve slipped under my skin, invaded my blood and seized my heart.”
“That sounds more like a poison than a person,” was all I could say. His confession had both shocked and thrilled me.
“Exactly,” Valek replied. “You have poisoned me."
Another good thing about Poison Study it will appeal to adults as well, with Yelena in her late teens and Valek in his late twenties-early thirties.
Overall, Poison Study is a spellbinding read. Definitely recommend to all fantasy lovers (although I am sure most have already read this) and also to readers who like me are a little afraid but very curious about fantasy this is a fantastic book to try.

Thanks Nic, I think I will. It's supposed to be a bit 'older' than the Inside Out / Outside In series, but everyone seems to love it :)
I'm reading this right now... love it, and can't wait to get the sequel! Fantasy is definitely my thing, though. :)
I really need to read this series again, so glad you enjoyed this. I never could get into her other books though for some reason:(
Lovely review, Nic. I've had this audio for a while now, but I always end up choosing something else. I think your review finally convinced me to try! :)
I liked the Inside Out / Outside In series, so maybe I'll give these a go too :) your review is tempting me..
Twinie Tina - I have
here for review. What did you think of that? @ Maja - Thanks. I felt like I have put this off forever too and wouldn't have bought it if wasn't given to me. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I heard from Flannery that the audio was really good.
@ Reynje - LOL it is nice to tempt you back since you have been making me break my book buying ban :)
Nic another awesome review from you. I love the quotes you chose. The second one gave me the goosebumps...I have to ask.. how come whenever you review a book that I had NO DESIRE to read I instantly want to run out and buy my copy? Darn you Nic!! LOL
Does this mean Valek might be a book boyfriend?
Twinie, Inside Out was decent. I felt overwhelmed while reading it though. Just a lot happening at once. It could have just been my mood, but I decided not to bother with book two after that. Lets hope you enjoy it more hun:)
@ JJJ - LOL. Valek will definitely be a book boyfriend :)@ Twinie - Thanks. I hope I enjoy it more too :)
I need to get on reading this book as well. I just saw the book boyfriend from this book and WOW he is smoking. I have a feeling I will have a new crush for certain.
Thanks Amber :) I will buy them anyway because I need to have the set (and I don't want to drool on your book in the Valek scenes)!

Read all three at the library but I just picked this one to own. Awesome book!
