Shalador's Lady is the 8th book set in the Realm of the Black Jewels books. It is a continuation of The Shadow Queen book #7. We continue to follow Lady Cassidy as she tries to be the best Queen for the land of Dena Nehele. This book picks up only a few weeks after the events of The Shadow Queen, so if you haven't read that one, don't read this one until you do. (Although it would not be necessary to read the other 6 books in this series to under stand these two, in my opinion it would help balance the other characters.) I really like Lady Cassidy, she isn't strong as far as jewel strength goes, but she has a spine of steel and what is right for the land. She has to face old enemies and hurts but she now has a court who will back her up. I really became fond of several members of her court who I didn't really attach to in the first book and that was lovely.
I devoured this book, as it so often happens I am always surprised when I notice a new book out from one of my favorite writers so I snatched it up and read it without stopping. Now my only complaint is that I will have to wait again for the next book. =P
