The book begins with a school shooting. One girl is dead, one is critically injured, and the other has been shot in the foot. The police notice some inconsistencies at the scene and the motive is unclear. The book delves deeply into the psyches of the three girls. There are numerous point-of-views and flashbacks. I finished the book so I could find out what happened. However, I didn't feel it was very suspenseful; perhaps due to the slow pacing and 400 pages.
