This is where the TV series really deviated from the books and in my opinion has become better than the original source material. That isn't a put down of this book. I still think this was very good on it's own, but the TV writers took a couple of the ideas here and came up with a story better for TV. The out of town investigator starting a relationship with Deborah and Doakes harassment of Dexter were the big things lifted from this story for TV. Other than that this book is pretty much completely unrelated to the TV series.
