This was a great collection of short non-fiction pieces by authors who have been very popular/prolific recently. I enjoyed Bill Buford's piece on British football hooligans, and Susan Orleans' article on an average 10-year-old. I think the reason I didn't like the collection as much as I would have thought was many of the articles were hard to get into - or didn't keep my attention throughout the entire work. I think the writing was really "cutting edge": most of the times witty, clever, smart and well-thought out. I really did enjoy Ira Glass' introduction, which addressed the status of modern nonfiction and why these authors were included. I would recommend to anyone dabbling in nonfiction or those who want a collection that gives a good picture of the current state of feature journalism.
