it was amazing

Whilst there are many good and excellent cat picture books, this one is a stand-out. Gorgeous collage illustrations by Ed Young. Included are haikus in Japanese and English by haiku masters Basho and Shiki. Wabi Sabi, the cat, wants to know the meaning of her name; Rascal the dog responds:
"Poor Wabi Sabi!
As simple as a brown leaf.
So ordinary."
This is accompanied by a haiku from Basho:
"when speaking
a chill on the lips:
autumn wind"

Of course, Wabi Sabi journeys to find her answer and ultimately finds peace and contentment at home.
This is a wonderful blending of culture, art, and literature.
(and cats, of course!)
