Amy was absolutely right about this book-- Flavia is a delightful character. I love her passionate interest in chemistry, her thorny, prank-ridden relationship with her sisters, Bradley's refusal to make her yet another adorable, precocious bookworm, and the fact that, though the setting of the story is domestic, the mystery features some genuine danger, rather than the sort of gentle morality lessons of an Alexander McCall-Smith book.

This book even managed to mkae STAMP COLLECTING interesting. Stamp! Collecting! What's the next one going to do, make me care about golf??
