Corduroy, written and illustrated by Don Freeman tells the story of a bear in a toy store. Corduroy is a bear full of adventure and excitement. He lives in a toy store with all his friends. None of the shoppers who visited the store wanted to by Corduroy, except for one very lucky little girl. Lisa came to the store one day and fell in love with Corduroy. Lisa’s mom spent too much money and said that they could not purchase Corduroy. Lisa went home and counted all her hard earned saved up money in which she had enough for the cute little bear. She returned to the mall and purchased Corduroy. Corduroy was brought to his new home with his friend Lisa. Lisa took very special care of Corduroy by sewing a new button to his overalls.

This is an excellent book for children who enjoy adventure and love teddy bears. It has a very happy ending. This book teaches children about needs and wants, in addition to taking care of someone else. It also teaches children that your friends will accept you for who you are. A perfect book for children 3 to 8 years of age.
