really liked it

Another round of wild, nonstop adventure for Cassie—but I felt this book worked better than the last, and it also seemed a little less frenetic. Or maybe I'm just becoming more at ease with Chance's style. And she was successful in weaving together different plotlines—and timelines—from Cassie's earlier adventures. Cassie is still a little slow on the uptake at times (and understandably so), but she is certainly acquiring knowledge and skills at an accelerated pace . . . so I enjoyed her more in this book. I really liked a few other characterizations in this book also, particularly Pritkin's . . . and I always enjoy Mircea.

As usual, Chance devotes little time to backstory in her sequels, so this series is best read straight through . . . otherwise, things can get confusing quickly. Cassie's to-do list is rapidly becoming unmanageable, but at least she accomplished one major item on her agenda in Embrace the Night . . . and that was most satisfying. ;-) 8/10
