** spoiler alert ** Though a compelling read, same as the rest of the series, In at the Death was not the satisfying, emotional conclusion one could hope for. Still, it's well worth the read for a glimpse into a world where the Confederate States of America are a national power, the Republic of Texas reappears in the middle of the 20th century, and atom bombs fall on Philadelphia, Charleston, Paris, London, St. Petersburg, and more.
