I enjoyed this look into the lives of two girls brought up in the same upper class household in India. Although not sisters, they still developed a closeness that made them "sisters of the heart." Twists and turns throughout the story made it a very interesting read, and the author's choice of words gave the story a fairytale-like quality. I would have given it a 3.5 if that was an option. It motivated me to search out a story about females in the lower castes of India. Review of the Blue Notebook to follow.
