"Wayfarer" is a sequel or possible companion book to "Knife" and is definitely a niche book for fantasy lovers and most likely female ones! To me, it is unlikely that it would appeal to a male audience. "Wayfarer" is an ultimate quest book as fifteen year old fairy, Linden, and her human companion, Timothy, seek to save the Oakenfolk colony of fairies who have, through time and nefarious deeds, lost their magic powers. Linden and Timothy endure some highly incredible and imaginative adventures as they pursue the Stone of Naming which is their last hope for saving the forsaken colony. The story is strong on plot but short on characterization, and Timothy's "loss of faith" sub-plot does not work particularly well.
