The Stand
by Stephen King
Amazing writing and development, but it was so lengthy that the good bits got lost in a sea of utter crap. Not worth reading. Ending is quite disappointing. I was going to give it two stars for it wasn't that horrible really, but it wasted a lot of my precious time and therefore it gets one star. Nothing more.
Old review (back when it was unfinished):
I finished about half of this book (which is a million pages), and I am suddenly feeling very unmotivated to finish it. Don't get me wrong, Stephen King is a WONDERFUL writer, but the story seemed to drag on and on and on. At times, I felt like I could easily give this book a 5-star rating, and at other times, I felt like throwing it from a 10-story building. If this book was shorter, and if SK wasn't so attached to ALL the crap he writes, and if he believed in deleting CHAPTERS that aren't necessary/important nor related to the plot, then this would have been, indeed, a great book.
I don't want this to stop you from reading it, though. I have a lot of other books I'd like to read before ever continuing reading this.

I couldn't agree with you more, I adore Stephen King but as you said he drags on sometimes I had the same feeling but managed to get through it. Take care =)
I got to about page 355 and out it down...I could not imagine having to trod through 800 more pages of it..highly overrated imo
I'm still trudging thru this book... stopped to finish a couple light reads. Stephen King books are hit and misses for me. I hate it when he has one idea and milks it out to make a long story.

I hate all of his books, period. Especially now.I don't know why people complain about Dean Koontz, whose stories really ARE good, or at least have SEMI-accurate medical information, but then they turn around and like stuff that Stephen King writes.
I completely agree with your review. The ending is absolutely disappointing and predictable. I really liked the character of Glen, the sociologist. But unfortunately, he didn't play a role as big as I hoped. Maybe I should have just saved myself the time, and read a sociology book?

Get it? HAHA.
