bookshelves: ebook, read-in-2010
Read from November 04 to 05, 2010 — I own a copy, read count: 1

** spoiler alert ** Well, I bought the ebook for this so I do not know if there is a warning that this is the first part of a book (which for probably publishing reasons was split) only. If you hate abrupt cliffhangers, don't buy this before the next part is in the stores.

I had a problem with the heroine, who may have started out as a timid 12-year-old, but there's a jump in the timeline (after the history of the Pegasi with the humans in the country has been explained) and then she's almost sixteen and STILL has no personal agency. I'm not really used to that from a McKinley heroine.

I LOVED the pegasi-country and language and the king and queen and oldest brother and the magician tutor and the various pegasi and their art and the Caves, so I'm still happy I bought this. But I sure hope the second part of the book will make me like the heroine herself a bit more.

Good idea. I much prefer to read books with cliff hangers all in one go.
