This was almost a 4* but was a bit slow moving. Sandford is a bit like Robert Parker who mixes his characters between books. Virgil Flowers boss is Davenport and we have heard of him as well as his wife, Weather (a plastic and reconstructive surgeon) in other books. Anyway, Virgil is an easy going intuitive detective who has to solve a northwoods, Minnesota murder(s)involving a summer resort catering to women only and a country western singer and her group. A lot of characters--all very well developed--so it's really not surprising that it takes a while to figure it out, which, of course, he does--very clerverly.
