It was interesting to see how Chabon pretty much captured his unique style of writing immediately in his first book here. He never wastes any words, and you often find yourself going back and re-reading certain passages for fear you missed something key hidden among it. It's been awhile since I've been this eager to just keep reading a title. I'm also more conscious of the fact now that I REALLY need to start reading some F. Scott Fitzgerald, as Chabon states that The Great Gatsby helped inspire this (and one of my other favorite authors, Jamie S. Rich, has said on several occasions he's a big influence on his writing).

One more thing: A friend and I were discussing how it is abdundantly clear that 99% of all works written by Chabon will have two things in common: Judaism and (predominantly) latent homosexuality. 76889 Maybe Mr. Chabon stays in his marriage because it makes him suffer and long and therefore becomes his drive and inspiration.
Kind of like how a donkey that always had a carrot dangled in front of his face without ever eating it would probably know about and admire carrots more than anyone else.
That was a weird metaphor.

467338 Though strange, your metaphor adds some credence to Stephen Colbert's theory that baby carrots can make you gay.

Something tells me Michael Chabon has written some slash-fic in his time.
