Ahh, "Shadow of the Hegemon"...

While I really enjoyed this book, this will be the first one of the books in the "Enderverse" that I give less than a 5 stars rating to.

I rate it at 4 stars because, while some of the dialogue in it (i.e. the conversation between Bean and Ender's mother) was some of the best I think I've ever read, the passages that were like giant games of "Risk" (even described as such by Card himself in the afterword) kind of took me out of it at times.

Card continues to make us care more deeply for Bean and what is going to happen here on Earth after the battle with the Formics has long since passed, but some parts of the book SLIGHTLY wavered from Card's usual greatness.

All in all, though, a fantastic read and a must for any fan of this series and/or Orson Scott Card.
