This is the first in Wood's Stone Barrington series. Before this, I'd read all the Holly Barker series, excluding the last one. Stone's appeared in a few of the Holly books and I think the Stone series is Woods' longest. So, I was hoping for great things with this one. I was disappointed. There were so many things wrong with this book. Number one was the enormous homosexual hate. Now, MAYBE you can lump it all in with the corrupt police department, but the fact is that when Stone's friend said these things, Stone didn't stand up and say anything. But maybe. From the first moment when Stone hears Cary's address, it was extremely apparent that if Cary wasn't the perp, then she was at least hiding something major. She was a freak and Stone couldn't pull himself way from her. That lost a lot of respect from me for him. The story was silly and trite, though it was readable. Blah.
