This book was VERY hard for me to get into. The beginning of the book starts out with it recanting incidences from another book, even though it's the first book in the series, and I didn't know what the author was talking about. It was so confusing and I really wanted to stop reading. Then we were introduced to Mick, Janet's boyfriend, whom she doesn't know anything about. He has a dragon tattoo and uses fire as his magic element. It is mentioned a bunch of different times that dragon's don't exist. Hmmm...just what do you think Mick is? A dragon. DUH! How has she not figured that out in 5 years? I just felt like the first half of the book talked down to us as the reader but the end picked up.

One of the other issues I have with this book, living in Arizona, I KNOW it doesn't storm that much. I know it's fiction but come on, if your going to write about a place that gets storms for your stormwalker to live in and use the energy from the storm, pick somewhere it does storm. She talk about it being May and the monsoon season doesn't start to until late June or July, not May so there won't be storm after storm rolling through. That really bothered me as well. *Sigh* I wanted it to be so much better than it was. I also wasn't very fond of the writing. Not my favorite and truthfully I probably won't read on in the series.
