I thought that this was just going to be a biographical graphic novel and I can't read enough about the fabulous Satchel Paige, so I was a little surprised when it turned out to be written from the point of view of another Negro League player. It starts with the narrator going to bat against Satchel Paige, then continues to be about the lives of both men. I ended up liking the format because I already know a lot about probably the best pitcher to ever take the mound, but got to learn what his success meant to his fans and the African American community.
