Exquisitely illustrated, this book tells of a young girl getting used to life with her father again after he has returned from war. They are spending a day together, first in a diner and then in the woods, while going out crow hunting. She has the important job of calling the crows on a day filled with questions and some hesitation. Lovingly told, this is a wonderful family story to share. While this story came from Lois Lowry's life in 1945, it is filled with meaning for today's families.
