Deenie is about a pretty girl, Deenie. She is pretty and wants to be a model. Her mother is a strong supporter. Deenie always practices and has auditions but fails. A juror tells her “your back is not straight.” So, she meets a doctor and the doctor said it is scoliosis. Scoliosis is when the spine is curved. As a result, pretty Deenie has to wear a brace for four years.

While reading this book, I made a text-to-world connection. She is like my older sister. Recently, she got braces on her teeth. So, she makes me imagine Deenie. They both hate to wear braces and think a lot about their outfits.

I would definitely give this book 3stars. It shows Deenie’s feelings as well. She really hates wearing the brace and wants to be a model. However, it doesn’t make a big impression on me. It unfolds naturally without conflicts or issues that interest me.
