I think this book would appeal to a fairly young audience as it seemed quite simple in both language and plot. There's some kissing, but otherwise clean. Reviews are quite positive, but I wanted more suspense.

Neither 13 year-old Max nor 15 year-old Alicia wanted to move from the city to a tiny seaside town, and when their younger sister, Irina, falls down the stairs under mysterious circumstances and need to be hospitalized, it really seems like it was a bad idea.

The strange cat Irina adopted is giving Max the creeps and he could swear that the bizarre statues in the overgrown graveyard near the house have changed position. If it weren’t for meeting Roland, the friendly and handsome adopted son of Victor, the old lighthouse keeper, Max and Alicia really would have hated their new home.

But it turns out that Victor has been guarding more than the lighthouse all these years. A dark force, The Prince of Mist, has been waiting for his chance to collect on a debt that comes to involves Roland, Alicia and Max in a battle for their lives.
