Whiskey Sour is Konrath's introduction to the character Lieutenant "Jack" Daniels. The plot follows a serial killer known as The Gingerbread Man.

Overall, I think this was a good first novel for the series. Many people spoke of it being humorous as well as a mystery, and perhaps I just didn't get it; But I did not find the book to be very funny.

However, I will say that it interested me enough to warrant my continuation of the series. I look forward to better knowing the characters and hope the writing only gets better.

Jack Haringa I had the same problem with the humor. Joe Konrath is a very witty, entertaining guy in person, but I thought the humor fell flat in this book most of the time. A lot of people also told me how funny this book was, but I didn't see it.

I thought it was a decent mystery and a solid first novel, but there was quite a bit of cliche to overlook.
