A nicely written fast-read about two women largely ignored by the history books - Mary Anning and Elizabeth Philpot. From different classes and different generations, their friendship developed over a mutual passion: fossil hunting. Though not given credit by the male establishment, these self-taught scientists living on an English coast found significant fossils in the early 1800s that introduced dinosaurs to the world and forced the entrenched scientific and religious communities to rethink firmly held beliefs.
