My first book read for 2008! All right, so it took me nine days to do it, but we already know that I don't read as fast as some of you. :)

Xylara is a daughter of Xy, one of the royal bloodline that's ruled her kingdom for generations. She is not destined to become queen; her half-brother Xymund was her father's heir and now holds the throne. Which suits her fine. She doesn't want to rule. She wants to be a master healer and open a school of teaching. Her kingdom is at war, however, with barbarians called Firelanders, and when one of them claims her as his Warprize, fate proves that it has other plans for her.

I had heard and read a lot about Warprize when it was released. It got a lot of good buzz and I bought it based on that and my eagerness to check out Tor's romance line. Obviously I didn't get to the book until the end of last year, but slow and steady wins the race, right?
