Recommended for: any fan of the dresden files up to date on the series.
Read from May 18 to June 01, 2010 — I own a copy, read count: 1

Wow...This one is aptly named, and that's an understatement.

Most of the casebook files focus on one of Dresden's many foes/friends: the black council, the fae, the knights of the cross/Denarian, the white council, the vampires, or Marcone.

This book has some part of ALL of these factions woven into a pivotal moment in Harry's story, after which NOTHING will be the same as it once was. It's hard to think of any single element or relationship formed in the previous 11 books that isn't touched and modified. It trumps my previous favorite, Dead Beat, by a large margin and is easily the best written book in the series.

The true triumph in the story is that, despite the incredibly engaging story and over the top action, the reader is most drawn to watching Harry change (sorry, couldn't resist) throughout the novel. The character at the end of the story bares little resemblance to the one at the beginning, yet every step and decision made is believable and agonizing at the same time.

A great read, and a landmark step on this character's journey.
