Revised rating to 2 stars..

Many friends suggest me to read this book. They said this book is good.
But after read it, I feel... tired :(This book tortured me a lot, both physically and mentally.Never get so emotional when read before.

I don't get about the captivate things (and rape, yes what Dimitri do to Katherine is rape). What make me curious is why Dimitri is not realize that Katherine is noble instead maid? And then what happen to Katherine, her abused condition, make me almost cringed..
The good part of this series is Katherine determination to get out from Russia. She is though, ass kicker, and can't be intimidated. For Dimitri, even though he's Alpha, he's not my favorite hero :(. Worse hero, heh! Don't like with what he'd done to Kate and not help her, when she need him.

I dunno if I will read another Johanna Lindsey's book, because of this book (with all captive and abused things). But I'll give a try ^^

Revised : Will never read her books. All about rape, abuse and pillaging are getting old!

Ren tu kan komen 4 hari lalu Lin, sekarang mah dah selese bacanya hahaha...^^

Suzanne the Mighty ~Satin Seductress~ I didn't like her earlier ones either RNDo, there was alot of mistreatment of the heroine in it. I would try her later ones either the Mallory series which starts with Love Only Once, or if you want just a stand alone book I thought A Man to Call My Own. And if you like western style ones her Wyoming series is quite good as well which starts with Brave the Wild Wind.

Sweety I agree with suzanne, some of JL story in early is full of abuse of rape to the heroine such as a pirate love, but the malory series is ok with me

Suzanne the Mighty ~Satin Seductress~ In the end I stopped reading her older ones as I couldn't finish them as they annoyed me too much. I wanted to kill the hero for being so horrible and slap the heroine for accepting it!!

lin-lin girls, I think I am at the same club as you are, I also don't like the hero in Secret Fire, many people said this is good book but when I read it I really want to yell at Dimitri. Although in the end Dimitri treat Katya with sweetness, but it's too late for me about his changes.

The only Johanna Lindsey book I have, When Love Await, but the main reason I want to read it because the setting is very old, so kinda curious about it.

Suzanne the Mighty ~Satin Seductress~ I haven't read that one, so I don't know what it is like. I would read some of her more modern ones, or her Westerns I always enjoy them.

Suzanne, I feel traumatize to read JL again, not my kind of Historical Romance (don't like abuse and rape), even though many friend of mine suggest to read Malory Family
I think I will avoid JL for a while, and read another author's book

Suzanne the Mighty ~Satin Seductress~ Fair enough Ren, her 80's books can be like that, so I avoid them. But the Mallory series is a massive improvement on these ones, the heroines give as good as they get!

nurmawati djuhawan tumben kita beda ren..gw kasih yang ini 4.5 bintang ^^

Catherine Not all her older books are like this one, but I can understand you not wanting to read them. Books in this vein are hit or miss with me. Usually miss.

Buggy Nice review Ren, Isn't it interesting how romances hove changed over the years. What was once acceptable (rape, torture etc) is no longer. Not a bad thing though

Ren Catherine : I know my friends said to me to read Mallory Family series, but I can't see myself read them, since I'd read 2 Lindsey's books (one is this, the others is When Love Awaits) and I don't like them both. Usually when it comes to women abused or forced, the story type like that it miss for me too. Just don't understand why heroine who forced (or raped) by the hero can love him back .

Buggy : Thanks. Its clear the story about raped women but she love her rapist, (or maybe I'll use the gentle term here, forced) was getting old.

message 17: by Catherine (new)

Catherine I don't blame you. It's hard to work up any enthusiasm to try again when you've had two strikes. Your friends are correct in saying you'd probably like the Mallory series more, though. The two you read were her old school style. She doesn't write like that anymore.

message 18: by Tai the Lioness (new)

Tai the Lioness thanks for the review ren! i hate rape!! and was just about to read it

message 19: by Ashley-Anne (new)

Ashley-Anne old johanna lindsey books have a lot of rape in them, but she has two that I like: until forever and Marriage most scandalous. Until forever is very romantic time travel (great ending!) and you learn quite a bit, and Marriage most Scandalous has an interesting story with a cool twist and a sexy hero
