it was amazing
bookshelves: biography-memoir
Read from September 01, 2010 to January 30, 2011

I seriously dilly-dallied on finishing this, because I've sort of been reading it for nearly 3 years since Kristin started emailing out excerpts, and I didn't want it to end. There were some parts that felt more powerful in those excerpts/the Paradoxical Undressing live performance--I think in part this was because she edited it to be less-dramatic and memoir-y, which I think is totally reasonable, and didn't really make the book any less wonderful (and it could just be that the addition of music in the live performance was what made it more powerful, little lyric snippets can't replace that!).

Grace I'm reading this book extremely slowly because I don't want it to be over. I did want to note that I'm really annoyed at how this book is categorized by the only bookstore here that carries it (Barnes and Noble)--they ordered like 5 or 6 copies of it but put it on the bipolar shelf in the psych section which is pretty much the most hidden shelf in the back of the store (someone would only find it if they were looking for a. a Kay Redfield Jamison book or b. a psych-y book on bipolarity)--only possibly 1 other copy has moved since I bought mine right after the store opened on the day it came out, so today I had to do some guerrilla marketing (previously reserved for hiding/moving copies of Skinny Bitch that were on display in the vegan section) and move all but 1 of the copies into the new biography display (though I should have put 1 in music bios, too), where many people were obviously browsing

lola you are wonderful.
