As a Southern girl, this book was the most gut-wrenching experience of my reading life. Based on a true story, WotS taught me so much about grief, recovery and making a real difference in the world. Rising from dark depression to take on a monumental task and give the whole span of a lifetime to that commitment is a mind-blowing concept. I think every high school senior should read this book in school as this Widow is a national heroine. I have never given a higher recommendation to any book.
